Dad,
For forty years, I held out hope that you would invite Carl and me back into your life, but, unfortunately, I learned today that dream died a few weeks ago. As a father myself, my heart aches that you didn't get to know your sons or meet your grand children. I hope that you rest in peace knowing that I forgave you a long time ago and that I still love you. Your son, Jimmy
