Welcome to the memorial page for

Dorothy Irene Workman

October 20, 1926 ~ October 25, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Dorothy Irene Workman left this world and joined her husband, Albert “Bud” Workman on October 25, 2017. She left behind three daughters, Linda Hart of CA, Susan Plaskey of OR, and Lisa Gibson-Workman of NV, and a son, Steven Workman of AK. She was given six grandchildren (and a few more she considered grandchildren), and six great-grandchildren. She joined three brothers, one sister, and left her youngest sister, Maureen McCabe of Greenville, OH, to continue their legacy.

Dorothy was born in Brattleboro, Vermont on October 20, 1926. After many moves, her family, the Hemmerlys, settled in Greenville, OH. As a young woman she moved to Columbus, OH to attend Ohio State University. She met her husband, Bud, and settled in Newark, OH where she brought her four children into the world. The Workman Family left Ohio in 1970 and moved to Long Beach, California where they lived until finally moving to Boulder City, NV in 1993.

Dorothy was a skilled seamstress and a part owner of the Quail’s Nest Boutique in the Boulder Dam Hotel. She was an active member of the Benevolent Patriotic Order of DOES and a hospital and YWCA volunteer in her youth.

Dorothy was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved her family with all her heart. Words cannot express the loss we feel but we are comforted knowing that she has been reunited with the love of her life and our equally as wonderful father and grandfather. Her final words of wisdom to her family were to just love each other. We love you more Gigi.
