Edward "Ed" Luther Waymire

Edward “Ed” Luther Waymire, June 19, 1929 – April 20, 2018.  Ed was born in Wichita, Kansas to Homer and Erma Waymire.  Ed’s family moved to Southern California when he was just a boy where Ed lived most of his life.  Ed possessed an abundance of energy and curiosity for all things, especially things that were mechanical in nature.  He enjoyed finding out just how things work and could fix or repair almost anything.  These characteristics served him well as he established and operated his own business in the commercial drum industry, Waymire Drum Company, based in Long Beach, California.  It was through this business that he met and eventually married Billie, the love of his life. 

Over the years the two of them, working together at building the business, achieved a great deal of success.  Ed loved flying and owned his own plane for many years.  They loved the water and were attracted to Temple Bar as they could easily fly there over the weekends.  It was while on a trip to Temple Bar that Ed and Billie discovered Boulder City and fell in love with our town and the people living here.  They sold their business in the late 90’s and retired.  Once retired they quickly moved to Boulder City where they continued their loving, one-of-a-kind relationship, until Ed’s beloved Billie passed away in 2016.  All who knew Ed and Billie know they are back together now, carrying on their one-of-a-kind love for each other, forever and ever. 

Ed is survived by two children; Connie Benbow and Susan Waymire; a sister, Betty Egigian; and a nephew, Don Egigian.  Ed became very close to his sister Betty over these past few years and would talk on the phone with her every day at precisely 8:30 pm, sometimes talking for hours. 

His family wishes to thank the Boulder City Hospital and the St. Rose Siena Hospital ICU and ER staffs for the professionalism and kindness of their combined efforts during Ed’s final days.  Honoring Ed’s wishes there will be no services.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boulder City Museum and Historical Association, Boulder City Lend-a-Hand, and Emergency Aid of Boulder City.  Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com
