John "Jack" Thomas Rants

John Thomas Rants “Jack” age 84 of Boulder City, Nevada, passed away on May 17, 2018 at home surrounded by family.  He was born on December 2, 1933, at home on Sixth Street in Boulder City, Nevada, to Frank and Isabel Rants.    

Jack attended school in Boulder City and was very athletic and lettered in 3 different sports. After attending college in California, he joined the Army and was stationed in Germany.  Upon returning home, he started working with his father at Rants Plumbing and later took over the business at his father’s retirement.

Jack married Dorothy Kine in 1956 (having known her since grade school).  They had four children, all born in Boulder City – John, Steve, Chuck, and Cindi.  He enjoyed watching his kids and then his grandchildren play sports and never missed a game.  He was a very family oriented man.

Jack was a very active member at Grace Community Church, taking a strong leadership role in Country Store.  He was always willing to give a helping hand, and was kind, thoughtful and had a great sense of humor.  Jack served as president of the Jaycees, a local service club, and was a dedicated booster for Boulder City High School while his children were in school.  He also was involved in the Boulder City Recreation Association and also the BRAVO organization for youth sports.

Jack is survived by his wife Dorothy, three children:   John (Connie-deceased), Steve (Lynda), Chuck (Tammy); nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and his daughter Cindi.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, May 24, at 11:00 am at Grace Community Church, 1150 Wyoming Street, Boulder City, NV. A reception lunch will follow in the church dining room.
