Kory Cameron Morgan

Kory Cameron Morgan, age 62, passed away on January 7, 2019 surrounded by his family and loved ones in his home in Boulder City, NV.

A viewing will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Boulder City Buchanan Chapel, located at 1550 Buchanan Blvd in Boulder City, NV from 6-8pm on Friday, January 11, 2019 and Saturday, January 12th from 10-10:45am with a funeral following at 11:00 am. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 14th, 9:00 am at the Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 S Dixie Dr, St. George, UT 84770.

He was born on September 11, 1956 in Santa Barbara, CA to Robert Harold Morgan and Jerrie Ann Morgan. He was the youngest of 4 children.

He grew up on a family ranch and learned the value of hard work.  At the age of 15 he obtained his private pilot’s license, the beginning of a lifelong passion for flying.  He was also an entrepreneur at heart and was involved in many self-made businesses.  His brilliant mind was always at work.

He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day in Kobe and Sendai, Japan.  Upon his returned he met the love of his life, Shirley Jean Chandler on a blind date; marrying 6-months later on December 7, 1978 in the Salt Lake City, UT temple.

In 1989 he started working for Skywest Airlines and 5 years later joined Southwest Airlines, where, until a colon cancer diagnosis, he enjoyed 24 years with what he called “the greatest airline in the world.” 

Over the course of Kory and Shirley’s 40-year marriage they had 4 children who have blessed them with 12 grandchildren. His greatest joy was providing adventures and experiences for each of them.  He loved traveling the world, scuba diving, boating, wakesurfing, and conquering the next goal.  He was an avid truth-seeker and loved learning. 

He is survived by His wife: Shirley Jean Chandler Morgan; his 4 children: Justin Cameron (Stephanie) Morgan of St. George, UT; Shirlyn Morgan (Justin) Wanlass of St. George, UT; Kyrsten Eleanor (Seth) Jones of Queen Creek, AZ; Kory Cameron (Kristen) Morgan II of Henderson, NV and 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by his 3 siblings, Kris Merrill (Scott) Cunningham of South Jordan, UT; Kenton Serrell (Cherie) Morgan of Payson, UT; Kerry Ketcham (Karen) Morgan of Portland, OR.
