LaVern Elliott Downard

LaVern Elliott Downard, age 91, passed away on April 14, 2019 in Henderson, NV.  She was born on August 30, 1927 in Standardville, Utah to Joseph Edwin Elliott and Alta Wright Elliott.  She was the third of six girls born to the couple.  She married the love of her life, Robert George Downard on August 10th, 1946 in Provo, Utah. They were later sealed for time and all eternity on June 26, 1964 in the Salt Lake City Temple. With her passing, she returns to sweetheart’s loving embrace.

A graveside service will be held at the Provo City Cemetery (610 S. State Street, Provo, Utah) at 1pm, Saturday, April 27, 2019 for people wanting to celebrate her life with her family and friends.

LaVern was an avid reader and read thousands of books in her lifetime and often would read two or three novels a week.   She moved to Henderson, Nevada a little over six years ago to be closer to her daughter as her health faded.

She is survived by two children David (Nancy) Downard, Diane (Lazell) Preator; eight grandchildren, twenty-two grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her Husband Robert Downard, and their son Robert “Dennis” Downard.
