Madeline Morris Obituary

Madeline Morris, devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother passed away peacefully on August 11, 2019 in Boulder City, Nevada. She was 80 years of age.

Madeline was born May 8, 1939, in Boulder City, Nevada to Osborne (Frosty) Traasdahl and Edith Rodeback. Madeline grew up in Boulder City as the second of five children, and graduated from Boulder City High School – a tradition that has continued for four generations. Madeline attended Brigham Young University, where she met her husband, Monte J Morris. Madeline and Monte married in the St. George Temple, and Madeline worked while Monte finished law school at the University of Utah.  They moved back to Boulder City and together raised eight children.

Madeline was devoted to her family, and became well known for homemaking, baking and seamstress skills. Her bread and cinnamon rolls were highly sought after, and she had the great skill to replicate any fashionable clothing style without a pattern. After working with her mother Edie, of Edie’s Flowers, she had a talent for creating beautiful flower arrangements and could keep any plant alive. Her greatest accomplishments were as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Throughout her life, Madeline devoted her time to her family and to church service where she served in Ward and Stake Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Madeline and Monte served a Humanitarian Mission in Indonesia in 2000-2001. As Madeline’s children, everything good we have become, goes back to what we were taught in our home, from our parents.

Madeline is survived by her husband Monte J Morris, her children Kevin Morris (Tammy), Bruce Morris (Xanne), Michelle George (Stephen), Shawn Morris (Leisel), Steven Morris (Lisa), Jason Morris (Stephanie), Heather Stewart (Kevin), and Robert Morris (Tara), and beloved sisters, Kareen Bybee (McClain) and Debra Bowman (Mark), 40 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by many that she loved, including her parents, Frosty and Edie Traasdahl, and her two brothers, Roger Traasdahl and Michael Traasdahl.

We express our sincere gratitude to Madeline’s many caregivers, for their tender and compassionate care.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 17th, from 9:00 a.m. - 9:45 a.m., with funeral services at 10:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Fifth Street Chapel, located at 916 5th Street, Boulder City, Nevada. Gravesite interment will follow immediately after the services.
