Robert "Bob" Mason Walker

April 18, 1957 ~ September 29, 2017 (age 60) 60 Years Old

Robert (Bob) Mason Walker was born April 18, 1957 in St. Paul, MN.  He passed away at age 60 on September 29, 2017 in Las Vegas, NV after a prolonged hospitalization.  He was a four-year resident of Boulder City, NV.

Bob was the son of Pearl Elvira (Petersen) Walker and Orieon Mason Walker.  He married Heather Gaylord in 2002 and they made their home in the St. Croix Falls, WI area until 2013 when they moved to Nevada.  Bob enjoyed family time, traveling to see relatives, and watching his children enjoy life.  He was a skilled woodworker, crafting furniture for his loved ones.

Bob spent his youth in the St. Paul suburbs, Stillwater, MN and visiting family in the St. Croix Falls area.  After graduating from Stillwater High School, Bob attended the 916 Vocational Technical Institute, graduating in 1978.  In the beginning of his career, he worked in the biomedical field.  With his interest in computer software, he taught himself to program and developed the WOSYST equipment management software which was initially used by hospitals in Minneapolis and St. Paul.  He then cofounded St. Croix Systems, Inc. in 1993.  St. Croix Systems evolved into a global leader in health care asset management, winning awards for best clinical engineering management software from 1999-2002.  In 1996 Bob engineered the Feed Supervisor software, which became the premier farm feed management system with a global presence.  He was known as a brilliant software engineer.  Bob developed innovative software programs supporting dairy farmers until the time of his passing.

Bob is remembered for how much he cherished those he loved.  He was a genuinely kind and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend.  A truly selfless and patient man who put others before himself, he had a strong capacity for loving unconditionally.

Known as a family man, Bob is survived by his wife, Heather Gaylord, son Jack Tezazu Walker (age 11) and Jack’s adult siblings Sarah, David, and Lauren Lund.  Bob will be missed by his sisters Joan Brownstein and Julie Robbins of St. Paul, and Lana (Larry) Jorstad of Bayfield, WI, as well as in-law siblings Brent (Joanne) Gaylord of Valier, MT, Kirk (Vicki) Gaylord of Novato, CA, Kathleen (Peter) Gionis of St. Croix Falls, and Gretchen (Marilyn Lehrner) Braner of Las Vegas.  Bob enjoyed his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Mourning his passing include close friends Keith Sather of Dresser, WI, Maeta Burns-Penn of St. Croix Falls, and step-mother-in-law Dorothy Gaylord of Punta Gorda, FL.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Sunday, October 8th, from 2-4 pm at the Elaine Smith Building, 700 Wyoming, in Boulder City. Words from Pastor Sandy Johnson at 3 pm.
