Gary William Krausman

Gary William Krausman passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on April 2, 2023, after a battle with vascular dementia.  He was born March 2, 1946 to Kenneth F. Krausman and Theresa L. (Vogel) Krausman in Detroit, Michigan.  The family welcomed younger sister Deanne a few years later and moved to El Cajon, California. Gary attended Granite Hills High School in El Cajon and was active in glee club, student council and football.  He moved to Las Vegas with his family in 1962 and graduated from Rancho High School, Class of 1964.

It was in Las Vegas where Gary joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He served a mission for the Church in Germany which started a love affair with photography, travel and adventure.  He then returned to Las Vegas, where he met and married Candy Shelton in 1969.  They married in the St. George temple, where they were sealed for time and all eternity. Their  union lasted 53 years and together they had two children, Megan (Jones) and Bryce.  

Gary's life was devoted to serving others. He dedicated countless hours to the Boy Scouts of America, participated in church and community choirs, and quietly helped those in need in our community. His compassionate nature also came through in his profession as an in-home physical therapist for over 40 years. 

He counted as some of his fondest memories: camping and dutch oven cookouts in Zion National Park, skiing Brian Head and in the Swiss Alps, hiking the summit of Machu Picchu, traveling the country as a choir member with Gladys Knight and the Saints Unified Voices, and singing in a back up choir for Barbra Streisand. 

Grateful and kind until the end, we know he would want us to thank on his behalf, the dedicated nurses, doctors and support staff at the Cleveland Clinic, the staff at the Beehive House, and his dedicated wife. 

He is survived by his wife Candy, his daughter Megan and son Bryce, his son-in-law Justin, his grandchildren Gabriella and Liam, his sister Deanne, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors who will all think of him any time they hear a Karen Carpenter song.
