Obituary

Herbert Lee Kirkland, age 80, of Las Vegas, NV passed away on December 24, 2021.  He was born in Blackville,South Carolina to Herman Kirkland and Sarah Cowan.  After high school Herbert served in the United States Air Force, where he was honorably discharged..

His interests and hobbies included playing cards, bowling, eating ,singing and playing slots at the casino.. He sang a cappella for many years with a group of friends. His favorite song was “I’m Just a Nobody”.  Herbert worked as a cab driver for Associate Taxi and Airway Taxi in Rochester, NY for over 40 years. In 1988,he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where Herbert worked for Whittlesea Taxi Company. He.loved to spend time with his family.

Herbert is survived by three children Cheryl (Antwann) Butler, Tracey (Dennis Sr.) Davis, Denitras Carter. He also is survived by eleven grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. A special cousin Jean Daniels-Gadson and a host of cousins.

He is preceded in death by his wife Martha Kirkland; his mother Sarah Cowan; a daughter Kimberly White and a granddaughter Shontia Slade.
