Jon Edward Barth

Jon Barth, an intelligent, quirky, loving, kind man passed into God’s loving arms on January 15, 2021.  He leaves behind an incredible legacy, in both business and family.  Jon loved his Lord, his wife, his family, his pear tree and sharing his sourdough pancakes.  Born July 26, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio to John A. Barth and Katherine Wagenhals.  Jon was an amazingly brilliant man and an industry leader in our community.  His spirit, sense of humor and intellect will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him. 

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." (Rev. 21:4).

Jon started Barth Electronics, Inc. in Ohio, in August 1964 in his basement.  A businessman and inventor, Jon holds many patents including pulse power products that he began selling over 56 years ago, which continue to sell to this day.  From there he produced a world-wide highly accepted company. Member of Electrostatic Discharge Association (ESD) and ESD business of the year, Jon was a member of numerous committees.  He invented the first commercial TLP machine for the ESD industry which has been sold world-wide.  Jon was also awarded Nevada Exporter of the Year.  He felt so blessed to have such incredibly loyal employees over the years. Having never retired, he always said, “I want to die with a soldering iron in my hand.” Son John Barth continues the business legacy at Barth Electronics.

Jon’s laughter was contagious and grand, his love and knowledge were beyond measure, he taught us all so much. He loved doing science experiments with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His love, laughter, and smile were always sunshine. Our hearts are hurting and broken that he will no longer walk among us. He may be gone, but never forgotten.

Left to celebrate this incredible man’s life is his wife, Norma, of 63 years, his children, John (nee Debbie), their daughter Patty Richner (Chadd), and son, Paul (nee Larissa) and their four children. Son Michael (nee Marti), their daughters, Josie Torres Barth (Joe), daughter, Stephanie Lewis (Tallas) and their six children, daughter, Samantha Bomgaars and her two children.  Daughter, Mary Krbec and her children, Jason and Katie, and daughter, Katie Gebhart (Chuck) and their children, Shelby, Joey (nee Summer) and Mandy.  In March, Jon and Norma will be blessed with their thirteenth great grandchild.

Jon was preceded in death by his brother, Don (nee Patti) and survived by brothers Ted (nee Gail) and Tim (nee Ann).

God has truly blessed his family with 83 years with this wonderful man.  Jon was a charter member of Faith Christian Church where he served as President and Trustee.  He joyously sang in the church choir with his lovely wife, where he was known as “Jon without an h”.  Jon and Norma treasured the time that they spent at their Mount Charleston cabin.  There are many fond memories of camping in the family pop-up-trailer, and sitting around the campfire listening to Jon playing his banjo.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.” 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:1-4,6)

As much as death marks an immutably final end of life as we know it, death also marks the beginning of everlasting life. John 3:16 vows, "For God so loved the world that He gave His One & Only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." For a man for who crooned the heartiest, most sizeable laugh, whose renowned sourdough pancakes were the best breakfast you'd ever eat, and in whose pocket you could inevitably find a half stick of gum.  Though we will no longer hear his "Adios!" when saying farewell,  we rejoice because of Jesus' perfect sacrifice, he is already amongst the saints, praising God for the rest of all time.

Public viewing: Thursday, January 28th, 11 AM to 12:30 PM at Faith Christian Church, 1100 Buchanan Blvd, Boulder City NV 89005. A private burial with his family will follow.
