Melvin Curtis Obituary

Melvin “Wayne” Curtis, Age 77, of Boulder City, NV passed away on September 18, 2020. He was born November 14, 1942 in Redding, CA to Arlis Curtis and Nora Roundtree Curtis.

Wayne had a life full of adventure by way of the US Army and US Air Force for a total of 44 years. Of the years spent in the Army, he fought in the Vietnam War, was part of the Special Forces/Special Operations Unit and was a Paratrooper. While the Army took him around the world, he settled down with the US Air Force at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas. There he ran Red Flag Operations among others. He retired in 2002 as a Master Sergeant.

Wayne enjoyed being part of the BPOE Elks Lodge #1682as a past Exalted Ruler. He was also Commander of the American Legion post #31 in Boulder City. He enjoyed reading, riding his motorcycle, attending sports games of his daughter and grand children, shooting with his daughter and son, bowling, playing games on the computer and spending time with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Shirley Curtis (passed in 1999), one brother Lewis, and his parents.

He is survived by his wife Barbara, along with his children from his marriage to Shirley: his son Bobby and daughter Robyn Curtis, as well as Robyn’s two daughters Zoey & Tristyn Curtis. His son, Michael Thomas, wife Melisa and their three children; Christopher, Zakary and Mikayla.  He is also survived by his step-daughter Nicole Hansen and her two children, Alice & Gryphon. He is survived by his younger brother Stanley Curtis of Kingman, AZ and his wife Jeanette; his niece Judy Marchica of Pemberville, OH, Judy’s spouse Joe, and their three sons; Garrett, Sean & Kegan; his cousin Jerry Davis of Boise, ID; and nephew Bud Gunnell of Laredo, TX.

Wayne will be forever missed, and never forgotten. His full military honors service will be held at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV on October 7, 2020 at 9:20 am. Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com
