Myron Adams

Myron J. Adams, “Jake”, passed away on January 24th, 2021, at his home in Henderson, Nevada. Myron was born August 17, 1946, in Greeley, Colorado, to Joe Neil and Lucille (Adams) Nesbitt. Myron graduated from Hillrose High School in Hillrose, Colorado. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1967 to 1969 during the Vietnam War. He continued his education at Aims Community College in Greeley, Colorado, with an emphasis in Business Administration. In the 70’s and 80’s he farmed in Weld County, Colorado. In 1982, Myron married Sharon Elbell in Greeley, Colorado, and they raised two wonderful children, Chelsea and Sean. They moved to Henderson, Nevada in 1988 where Myron worked in management in Las Vegas casinos until he began his career with Clark County School District as a bus driver for Special Education students. This was the most satisfying job of his life, and he was admired and appreciated by the families of the children.

Myron had a sensitive and gentle spirit. He enjoyed spending time with his children, golfing, hiking at various National and State Parks, documenting family trips on film (still and video) and making meals for his family (he truly was an amazing chef). The greatest accomplishments of his life were his children and grandchildren. Myron loved his family and was always there for them. He appreciated and valued all of his friendships, surrounding himself with good people, many of them since childhood. Myron was enjoyed by many, making them laugh with his unique sense of humor. He had a deep reverence for God and his country. He survived a devastating motorcycle accident in 2017 where he lost his leg and faced a challenging rehabilitation process. He encountered each stage of his journey with bravery, strength and resolve. He never gave up and he always faced adversity with a smile on his face.

Myron is survived by his children; a daughter, Chelsea Adams, of Nevada and a son, Sean (Ranya) Adams of California. He has three grandchildren; Olive, Darby and Sophie; a sister, Choral Lee Reid, of Nevada; a nephew, R.J. Josephson of California; best friend and former wife, Sharon Adams, of Nevada. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A service and interment will be held on Monday, February 22nd, at Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery at 12:40 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, American Cancer Society, or Special Olympics.
