Sally Ann Sweeney

Sally Ann Sweeney, age 74, of North Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on February 9, 2020 in Las Vegas.  She was born on August 31, 1945 in Canton, Illinois to Richard and Margaret Douglas Taylor.  She moved to Las Vegas in 1963 to work for RECO at the Nevada Test Site.  She married Willie Sweeney on May 1, 1965 in Las Vegas.

Sally was a very talented person and artistic.  She enjoyed painting, home decorating, and was a master florist that did the flowers for many of her children’s and grandchildren’s weddings. Shopping was another one of the passions.  She loved to spend time on the lake boating with her family and was an avid bowler.  Sally and Willie enjoyed Jazz Music and went to numerous jazz festivals.  She was very intelligent and later in life she attended College of Southern Nevada to study medical coding and graduated in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society in 1991.  She loved to use her knowledge to help family with the best medicines for whatever was ailing them.

She is survived by her husband Willie Sweeney; five children Bryan (Sandra) Sweeney, Mary (Tom) Coleman, Kent Sweeney, Gwen Omit, Barbara Thygerson, 19 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her father Richard Taylor; mother Margaret Douglas;  child Dency Palcovic; a son in law Richard Thygerson and a grandchild Karen Satison.

Celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 2:00 to 2:30 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive Boulder City, NV 89005.  Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com
